I make him right, fuck losing our identity.

We don't own our own stadium, we rent an athletics track to play on, we play long ball negative losing football, and we're owned by a couple of porno barons who lied to every single one of us on numerous occasions, and banned people for protesting about those lies.

Who would want to lose all that?

"The day some rich arab buys our beautiful club will be the where we finally loose the last bit of identity.

Why oh why are people supporting West Ham, if they are just looking for the quick fix success? There are other clubs for that. If you want to support a rich arab, then follow Man City."

Sorry but the last bit of our identity went ages ago. If we were still at UP then I would be inclined to agree, but we are not. We are in a huge stadium that is not practical for football and I would rather be playing Man City-style footie under Arab owners than shit, boring football under Sully & Gold in a half empty Championship stadium.

We were sold the dream and we bought it. We can't go back now and all the only glimmer of hope is that we get bought out by someone who has so much money that it would be impossible to spend it all. I am fed up of us being shit. I want change.

Re: Will Moyes be our Alex Ferguson?
No.

Firstly we do not have Manchester United's resources or in-built advantages.

Secondly managers do not get the time Alex Ferguson got to instill a long-term ethos on the club. Managers are forever 6 losses from the chop, so I don't think a Ferguson or a Wenger is at all possible.

Thirdly, I think the all-encompassing job that the old-school managers used to do is impossible in the modern era. You have to scout too many regions, the science is too complicated, training is too complex. It's not about being just a canny decision-maker anymore - there has to be a collaborative structure to modern clubs else you get left behind. Our club is a good example of that problem.

Fourthly if despite the odds he started to become our Alex Ferguson, he would be offered better jobs and move on.

So it's impossible. We need to find another way. The cult of the old-school manager is dead.

Re: Will Moyes be our Alex Ferguson?
After a win against a crap Southampton side and he's being compared to Ferguson's slow start in Manchester?

It's a slow start that's followed three crap spells at Man United, Sociedad and Sunderland.

And lets no forget about 3-1 at Brighton, 3-0 Burnley, 4-1 Liverpool, 4-1 Swansea. I can't even begin to forgive him for his surrender in the FA Cup.

A poor manager who does not inspire his players, nor the fans in the stands.

I'll give credit where it's due regarding Arnoutovic, but he's now at the peak of his career and straight to the front of the shop window. While I love watching the big fella, don't get too attached. If a decent bid comes in, between him and the board, he'll be off.

Re: Will Moyes be our Alex Ferguson?
The down side of all this conjecture is, what will David Sullivan do? He might have made himself a billionaire but he couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery.

Sullivan is the problem and there will never be an answer until after he has gone imo. If WH stay up of course he will agree a deal with Moyes.

Interviewing top class managers is beyond him as his 25 years in doing has shown. He wants someone with a record of success but one that will accept a small budget and they are rarer than 'hen's teeth'. Benitez maybe could be one but it's someone like the next Eddie Howe that needs to come in.

For that the owner needs to have vision, nerve and an ability to motivate them. I don't think he has any of those attributes and he will take the easy option so Moyes is the limit of our 'next level' and you all know it really...

West Ham is more than a football club.

Moyes may be the best solution for the current board, as he is reluctant to buy any players, but he will never be our Ferguson. No manager is going to ever be the next Ferguson for us or anybody else. We have to get back to basics.

First steady the ship and Moyes does that.

Get a transfer policy in place. It should be that we should never buy players over the age of 25. Better to buy 10 young players and have two do well than another Evra. Sell players when they are good, not when they are with crutches.

Have a state of the art medical facility with doctors and physios that know what the hell they are doing. Whatever amount this should take to build, double it.

A first team policy, how the play, style and formation, which permeates through all the way down to the youth teams.

Scouts all over the world, who are not only looking at players, but also coaches, managers and chips vendors. Look at anything and everything that is a success and replicate it. This is where we will find the next manager, our upcoming Ferguson.

Our current board are just porn distributors looking for a quick orgasm, but we need to also have the chase, sizing up the bird, flirting, getting the first kiss before ending up in heavenly lovemaking with the perfect climax in the end.

Gold & Sullivan selling to arabs? Well it worked for Man City, was a Jewish chairman that did that deal too.

See who said Jews & Arabs cant play nice :-)

sorry couldnt resist.

Do we need a buyer though? Arent we in the worlds top 20 richest clubs? Where is all the money going i wonder.....hmmm

Re: Will Moyes be our Alex Ferguson?
He is not for West ham in my opinion he is far too defensive when he should be brave, and he chooses even at home to be quite defensive against the teams we should be beating.
Although he has had his positive moments for example what he has done to Arnie is brilliant still I do not see him as our manager.

"Having seen the reluctance of our board to spend real money on transfers & their penny-pinching attitude towards selling clubs & their clear interference in transfer matters, I would say it's extremely unlikely that any manager of that calibre would work for them"

There is the massive thing that goes against us, without a doubt. I actually posted on here a few years ago, when Moyes was sacked by Man Utd, that he would be the absolute perfect manager for our owners; British, old school, doesn't rock the boat, treats club money like it's his own. However, since then he has been a consistent failure, and even if he stays up with us, it'll be mainly due to there being some absolutely dire teams below us, we won't even end up with 40 points for the season and will still likely survive.

There was no doubt in my mind, as soon as they appointed him, he'd have the job for the long haul, because he is made for our owners. I expect such things from them. But I'm not sure how any of our fans are finding justification for it. Look at the league table for last season, we employed the manager of the team sitting rock bottom.

I don't entirely disagree with what you're saying and of course it is ludicrous to believe that Moyes could ever achieve for us what Ferguson achieved at manu

The only link between Moyes & Ferguson to my knowledge, is than Ferguson recommended Moyes for the manu job when he left

I did not want Moyes as our manager or Bilic for that matter. In fact, I was naive enough to believe, prior to Bilics appointment, we would be able to attract Klopp or Beilsa!

Having seen the reluctance of our board to spend real money on transfers & their penny-pinching attitude towards selling clubs & their clear interference in transfer matters, I would say it's extremely unlikely that any manager of that calibre would work for them

Benitez might? That would be a step up from Moyes! It would certainly be worth sounding out possible alternatives come the end of the season once we know in what division we're playing in

Goodness knows the club has been through so much turmoil in one season, we really need some stability

The ideal scenario would be for some wealthy arabs to come in & buy the club, appoint a decent DOF, a top manager & spend some real money on decent players. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen

In the meantime, we might just as well plod on with the same manager, a new DOF (I wish it could be Sir Trev) & just hope the board get the cheque book out (about as unlikely as the first scenario)

Sorry Debs, but you can wipe his Sunderland stint from the memory bank, it doesn't count, weren't his fault.

Man Utd wasn't his fault.

Real Sociedad wasn't his fault.
